My first piece in a three piece series about influential hip hop artists titled "3 kings, had to be about 2pac. I grew up on 2pac and remember when the posthumous Makaveli album dropped and While I can still recite most of the lyrics to the first 6 songs of the album, the thing that still sticks to me most is the album cover. As a young aspiring artist I always felt pulled to the album cover artwork. 2pac hanging on a cross was a powerful statement that I will never forget and this painting was the best way for me to honor him and get it out of my head at the same time. - J.
